Event Description
It was reported that during use of the device for cardiopulmonary bypass (cpb), the central control monitor (ccm) displayed a 'calibrate oxygen (o2) analyzer' message while the gas flow rate was decreasing, and the gas screen could not be displayed. The surgical procedure was completed successfully. There was no delay, no blood loss, nor adverse consequences to the patient.

Manufacturer Narrative
Updated blocks: h3 and h6.During laboratory analysis, the product surveillance technician (pst) connected the electronic patient gas system (epgs) to lab use only (luo) testing equipment. The log review indicated instances of 'oxygen (o2) sensor and blender disagree' events corresponding to the date of the reported complaint occurrence.Based on the data contained within the events, the o2 sensor read zero momentarily, causing the need for a new calibration. The log also indicated that the flow was reduced which also corresponded with the reported complaint information provided by the user facility. The pst found the epgs to function as intended and to pass calibration. The internals were observed and no anomalies or loose connections were found. The service repair technician (srt) could not duplicate the reported complaint. The epgs calibrated successfully, and no issues were found. The o2 sensor was replaced. The unit operated to the manufacturer's specifications. If additional information becomes available on this complaint that would alter the facts and/or conclusion, a supplemental report will be filed accordingly.
