It was reported that the tip of the delivery system fractured internally. An eluvia drug-eluting vascular stent system was selected for use to treat stenosis in the left superficial femoral artery. The target lesion was reported to be 75% stenosed with moderate calcification and tortuosity. The target lesion was accessed via a contralateral approach, and pre-dilation was performed using an unknown balloon. The eluvia stent was deployed without issue. When attempting to remove the eluvia delivery system, the delivery system became stuck on the non-boston scientific guidewire.Removal was attempted several times, at which point the joint between the distal tip and the inner shaft was dislodged. The delivery system, with the exception of the distal tip, was removed. The distal tip remained stuck on the guidewire. The guidewire and fractured distal tip were removed as one unit.It was confirmed that no portion of the device remained within the patient.Upon removal, it was noted that there was a small hole in the distal tip. There was no patient injury reported.
