Event Description
Information was received from a consumer (con) regarding a patient receiving intrathecal infumorph (5 mg/ml at an unknown dose) via an implanted pump for spine/back pain and malignant pain.It was reported that they patient stated they thought they were getting too much morphine in the pump.The patient stated that they had a refill on monday and in the wee hours of the morning they got up to pee in the middle of the night and realized it was very difficult to pee.The patient stated this morning they then threw up and thought it must have been the fiber.The patient stated during the trial they had urinary retention really bad.The patient mentioned that they "didn't remember to take their medication with their coffee this morning" and they "felt great and don't hurt".The patient stated they called the clinic and the patient was told to go to the emergency room (er) and the patient was wondering if that was the right thing to do.The patient was redirected to their healthcare provider (hcp).
