Event Description
It was reported that the balloon was difficult to remove. The 90% stenosed target lesion was located in the mildly tortuous and moderately calcified in proximal to mid right coronary artery (rca).A 6mm x 2.50 mm wolverine coronary cutting balloon was selected for use.During the procedure, it was noted that the physician advanced the wolverine to the lesion, however; it did not cross completely. The physician tried hard to push it and still it did not cross.Considering it as tightest segment, the wolverine balloon was inflated at 6 atm in slow inflation method. After deflating slowly, while trying to take the wolverine out, the balloon did not come immediately. So, the physician deflated again and took the wolverine out.Upon removal, they found the shaft is bent completely and considered it will be risky to take the same into the patient. The balloon was completely removed from the patient and the procedure was completed with another of the same device. No patient complications were reported.
