Event Description
Information was received from a patient receiving intrathecal dilaudid (unknown concentration and dose) via an implantable pump for non-malignant pain.The patient stated he would have to get the pump filled on march 20th.The patient stated he was currently in the hospital and he did not think his pump was working because he fell on saturday and fractured his back.The patient states he was in an incredible amount of pain and the area was swollen around the pump and the skin above the pump had two red dots and looked like a smiley face.The patient also stated the pump was put in the wrong place when it was implanted and had always need to be moved but the fall exasperated the situation.The patient stated the pump was not alarming.The patient stated the doctor's at the hospital had questions about the pump and wanted to know what number to give them.
