Event Description
|
It was reported that a healthcare professional (hcp) reported a suspected flipped pump which was later confirmed by x-ray.During a routine refill telemetry was difficult but they were eventually able to read the pump. The hcp reported that when palpated it felt like the pump port where the catheter connected was coming off the left of the pump. The hcp wondered if when the patient was being transferred using a hoyer lift it could be pulling or affecting the pump. The pump pocket was very loose.Surgical intervention was required to flip the pump back over and secure with sutures. The pump remained implanted and in service, and the patient was alive with no injury. The pump was used to infuse lioresal (baclofen).Follow up was being conducted to obtain additional information. If additional information is received a follow up report will be sent.
