The pump has not been returned to animas for evaluation.If the device is returned, an evaluation shall be completed and a supplemental report will be filed.No conclusions can be made at this time.
 
Event Description
On (b)(6) 2016, the reporter contacted animas, alleging that there was a temperature issue with the pump.This complaint is being reported because the reported issue was not resolved with troubleshooting.There was no indication that the product caused or contributed to an adverse event.
 
Manufacturer Narrative
The device has been returned and evaluated by product analysis on 12/28/2016 with the following findings: a review of the black box showed a voltage drop due to an unacknowledged replace cartridge alarm.The battery compartment and the cap were undamaged and were able to fit securely.The rewind, load, and prime steps were performed correctly.All currents read within specifications and no over heating occurred during investigation.The pump cover was removed to find no intermittent conditions on the printed circuit board.The temperature complaint was unable to be duplicated.

Device evaluation: the device has been returned and evaluated by product analysis on 09/29/2017 with the following findings: the black box was reviewed and confirmed that the voltage was steady with no sudden drop prior to the reported temperature event.Animas has conducted a review of the device history record for this pump and confirmed that it was operating within required specifications at the time of release.
