Event Description
It was reported that during set-up of the device for a cardiopulmonary bypass (cpb) procedure, there was flow sensor with a bent pin.As a result, an alternate device was employed.The surgical procedure was completed successfully.There was no delay, no blood loss, nor adverse consequences to the patient.
 
Manufacturer Narrative
The reported complaint was confirmed.During laboratory analysis, the product surveillance technician (pst) observed a bent pin in the connector (pin 6) of the flow sensor.Per pst after proving the proper operation of a centrifugal system water loop and flowmeter circuit using lab-use components, the device under test (dut) flow sensor provided no reading.If additional information becomes available on this complaint that would alter the facts and/or conclusion, a supplemental report will be filed accordingly.
