Currently it is unknown whether or not the device may have caused or contributed to the event as no product has been returned.No conclusion can be drawn at this time.We therefore consider this report complete to the best of our knowledge.The insulin pump involved in this event is the 640g insulin infusion pump, which is not marketed in the united states.However, the device is similar to the paradigm real-time insulin infusion pump, which is marketed in the united states.
 
Event Description
It was reported that the insulin pump had a flash display.The customer¿s blood glucose level was 11.2mmol/l at the time of the incident.The customer was assisted with troubleshooting.The customer was advised to discontinue use of the insulin pump and to revert to the back-up plan.The customer was advised the pump will be replaced as per troubleshoot.The insulin pump will not be returned for analysis.
 
Manufacturer Narrative
After battery installation unit gave an unexpected flashing white / blank display followed by an unexpected intermittent beep alarm due to a vertical cracked lcd controller.In addition to this, the lcd screen itself it cracked.Unable to perform functional tests including displacement, rewind, seating, basic occlusion, force sensor, occlusion, and self tests due to the display anomaly.
