It was reported to boston scientific corporation on (b)(6) 2018 that a wallflex esophageal partially covered stent has been implanted to treat a long, malignant esophageal stenosis during an esophagogastroduodenoscopy (egd) with stent placement procedure performed on (b)(6) 2018.Reportedly, the patient's anatomy was tortuous and was not dilated prior to stent placement.According to the complainant, during the procedure, the stent is released, there was a failure of the delivery system, and the stent "presents a non-sustained release".The stent was prematurely deployed distal and lodged in the gastric cavity.Reportedly, the stent was not withdrawn from the patient.The procedure was completed with another wallflex esophageal stent.There were no patient complications as a result of this event.The patient condition following the procedure was reported to be stable.
