The afternoon before the reported event, the heart-lung machine (hlm) with this ccm was left running in standby overnight.The next morning the perfusionist noticed the message.
 
Event Description
It was reported that during set-up of the device for a cardiopulmonary bypass (cpb) procedure, the central control monitor (ccm) displayed a "system computer needs service" message.As a result, an alternate device was employed.The surgical procedure was completed successfully.There was no delay, no blood loss, nor adverse consequences to the patient.

During laboratory evaluation, the product surveillance technician (pst) observed the central control monitor (ccm) to function properly.

As per manufacturer's technical support specialist, he suggested to the customer to clean or replace the printed circuit interface (pci) bus cable to troubleshoot the issue.He also instructed that there was a document for the proper instruction for the service procedure on how to clean or replace the pci bus cable of the central control monitor (ccm).Per data log analysis, the system is powered up on (b)(6) 2018 and on (b)(6) 2018 at 1:36:10 the ccm reported "error process guidied".They were not doing anything when it happened.This is an indication the problem is likely in the ccm.

The reported complaint was confirmed.The service repair technician (srt) was unable to duplicate the reported complaint.He observed the pump to function as intended with no error messages being displayed.If additional information becomes available on this complaint that would alter the facts and/or conclusion, a supplemental report will be filed accordingly.
