The committee is comprised of experts in drug safety, risk-benefit analysis, risk perception, communication, management, ethics, pharmacoepidemiology, clinical pharmacology, clinical research and medication errors. There are also consumer and industry representatives; however, the industry representative has no vote.
The Drug Safety and Risk Management Advisory Committee holds public meetings that attract people from other companies, reporters, advocacy groups and investor groups, and patients and their families; many come to observe since what happens at these meetings can sometimes have business implications.
