Over the years, there have been many scientific advances in drug safety. There are advances in the field of epidemiology because there are more data to review. There are statistical methods that can fine-tune data analyses. There are advances in pharmacology, genetics and genomics that help predict who may get an adverse event or who may respond to a drug in a certain way. There have also been major improvements in risk communication and information flow within FDA and out to the public.
