Event Description
The customer reported a ventilator with segments of the touchscreen that were unresponsive.The device was not in clinical use at the time the issue was discovered.There was no patient or user harm reported.
 
Manufacturer Narrative
G4: 27jan2021.B4: 30jan2021.The device was evaluated by a philips field service engineer (fse).The fse replaced the touchscreen.The device was then reported to be repaired.No other anomalies were reported.Submission of a report does not constitute an admission that medical personnel, user facility, importer, distributor, manufacturer, or product caused or contributed to the event.
 
Manufacturer Narrative
The touchscreen was returned for failure analysis.All electrical testing is in specification.The resistance measurements are within tolerance, however multiple readings are close to the upper limit which may contribute to intermittent unresponsive region in lower right corner of screen "standby" and " ? " tab.The failure was caused by the manufacturing process leaving dead spots on the screen.
