The system was serviced in the field and failed imagining modalities testing.The filament drive was defective and the u3 integrated circuit was burned.The filament driver needed to be replaced.(b)(4).If information is provided in the future, a supplemental report will be issued.
 
Event Description
Medtronic received information regarding an imaging system being used outside of a procedure.It was reported that when the site turned on the system at the beginning of the day, they heard a sound like an electric shock inside the machine and smelled a burning electrical component of the system.They tried to perform a gain calibration of the x-ray detector, but the system was constantly failing the calibration.No patient was present at the time of the event.
