Event Description
|
Medtronic conducted a post market clinical follow-up (pmcf) survey to seek out potential new risks and assess performance of the export advance and export ap aspiration catheters.Survey results are from an interventional cardiologist in practice 12 years. In the past two months, the physician has used both export advance and export ap aspiration catheters. The physician uses approximately 7 export advance, and 6 export ap devices in an average month.During one procedure one export advance aspiration catheter was being used for containment and aspiration of embolic material. The device was used as it is described in the ifu.It was reported that a stroke occurred. It was stated that the stroke was related to the procedure but not directly to the device itself. The stroke did require intervention.Fibrinolysis was done following the stroke. The device performed successfully in its ability to deliver the aspiration catheter to the target lesion, but did not perform successfully in its ability to contain and aspirate embolic material. Not all embolic material was removed. No further patient injury was reported.
