It was reported that the patient had an mri, they think on wednesday (b)(6) 2023 and they had turned therapy off for mri.Once therapy was turned back on, patient said they started having a shocking sensation at the implant site.Shocking sensation is intermittent and occurs with certain movements (patient stated bending over, rolling over, standing up).Patient has stopped charging implant because it is painful to charge.Currently therapy is on.Patient was redirected to their healthcare provider (hcp) to further address the issue.Patient stated managing hcp was out until (b)(6) 2023 and they would call hcp office to see if the hcp that turned their dbs off for the mri was available.

Additional information received from the manufacturer¿s representative (rep), which was confirmed with the healthcare provider (hcp), reported the cause of the shocks wasn¿t determined.The patient was referred to neurosurgery for exploration and possible revision of the dbs system; the date of the surgical intervention had not yet been determined.The patient continued to have shocks, although they did note they started turning the device off at night which lessened the frequency of shocks.

Additional information received from the consumer reported there were no circumstances that led to the shocking; the consumer did have an mri, but nothing else.Nothing was done to resolve the shocking and pain and thus it was still ongoing.

Additional information was received from the rep that there do not appear to be any external factors that contribute to this.Extensive troubleshooting was performed including several impedance checks and x-rays of the implants.No intervention has been performed yet.

Additional information received from the manufacturer¿s representative (rep) reported the patient was experiencing shock-like sensations near the implant site that would occur every couple of minutes.The patient spent a few hours at their neurologist¿s office this morning who performed a lot of x-rays of the systems, took impedances, and even turn the device off to see if it was any better, but the patient continued experiencing the issue and didn¿t kno what next step to try and resolve the issue.During the appointment when the dveice was off, the patient stated they didn¿t know how long the device ha been turned off, but they got one shock during that time, and the dbs device was turned back on shortly after.When the rep asked the patient if there was anything the patient had discovered that would prevent or relieve the sensation, the patient stated kind of and that if they would wear a bra 24/7, they wou ldn't get as many shocks, however, sleeping like that was very uncomfortable.
