The electordes were returned to zoll medical corporation for evaluation. The customer's report was not replicated or confirmed.A visual inspection found no signs of any burns or arcing. However, the electrode pads had some unshaven hair stuck to the foam. The electrode labeling provides instructions for proper electrode application technique and patient preparation.Part of that preparation, would be to remove any hair.Additionally, the operator guide indicates: "during defibrillation therapy, the patient can experience burn and redness due to high measure patient impedance." good skin preparation does not guarantee a burn will not occur and burns from defibrillation is an expected risk.Analysis of reports of this type has not identified an increase in trend.
