Event Description
Medtronic received information regarding an imaging system being used outside of a procedure.It was reported that a malfunction in the charging circuit board was observed during the inspection.No patient was present.An update was obtained from the person in charge.During inspection, a malfunction was found in the charging board and it exploded.The parts had been replaced and would be sent to the service repair team in japan soon.An investigation of the charging board by the manufacturing plant was requested.Although the person in charge was there, the part was protected by a steel cover.There were no injuries as a result of the explosion as they were protected by the steel cover.The cause was believed to be the charger board, but the root cause was unknown.
