It was reported that the patient experienced discharge at the deep brain stimulation (dbs) implantable pulse generator (ipg) site.The physician assessed that the patient had an infection.The patient underwent a revision procedure in which the deep brain stimulation (dbs) implantable pulse generator (ipg), and the lead extension were explanted.In addition, the patient was administered antibiotics.A culture was taken which confirmed staphylococcus.The physician assessed that the infection was caused by improper wound care by the patients caregiver.The patient was doing fine postoperatively and has returned home.The explanted devices will not be returned as they were discarded at the medical facility.
