Event Description
|
Medtronic received information that during use of a fusion hollow fiber oxygenator, it was reported that 2 mins after the start of e extracorporeal circulation, blood was found oozing out from the top of the membrane lung from the circulation braid.The bleeding was at a fast rate, and about 5-10ml of blood per minute.After the connection to the vena cava was opened, the bleeding rate slowed down slightly, but did continue oozing out until the end of extracorporeal circulation.See attached video.Use of device was unspecified.There was no adverse patient effect associated with this event.
