A peritoneal dialysis (pd) patient experienced a breach in aseptic technique which resulted in peritonitis.The breach in aseptic technique was further described as the patient was following unsterile practices and re-using dialysis materials because of unavailability of supplies.The peritonitis was manifested by abdominal pain and cloudy pd fluid (which occurred a day prior to the event onset).It was reported that the patient was not hospitalized for the events.On an unknown date, the patient was treated with vancomycin injection (1gm, every 5th day, intraperitoneal, ongoing) and ceftazidime injection (1gm, once daily, for 10 days, ongoing) for the event.The patient has recovered 10 days after the event onset.Pd therapy was ongoing.The patient was retrained on the proper aseptic technique.No additional information is available.
