Event Description
Senseonics was made aware of an incident where patient reported that fluid was oozing from the scar from the previous sensor.The scar was very old and the current sensor was in the same arm about 5 cm below the previous incision.Transmitter did not touch the previous scar.When patient visited doctor, they recommended removal of the current sensor and to discontinue using eversense system as the patient's body seemed to be rejecting the sensor.Patient did not report any pain.The doctor did not prescribed any medication either.No further information could be gathered.
 
Manufacturer Narrative
This report is being submitted retrospectively as part of internal review.The sensor is inserted by making a small incision and placing it under skin and potential for developing skin irritation/swelling/pain/ inflammation/infection around the insertion site is a known anticipated adverse event.No further investigation was necessary for this complaint.Patient was not treated with any medication, but the doctor suggested removal of current sensor and to discontinue eversense system because the patient body seemed to be rejecting it.
