During a ventricular tachycardia (vt) procedure, a suspected stroke occurred which was treated with anticoagulation therapy.The procedure was stopped, an mri was performed but no stroke was confirmed.While in the left ventricle via aortic access, vt was induced followed by the patient returning to sinus rhythm unassisted.Approximately 20 minutes later, the patient reported feeling nauseous, was unable to follow the physician's finger with his right eye and expressed difficulty contracting his hands.The physician suspected either a stroke or an air embolism.An mri was performed but neither stroke nor air embolism was confirmed.Anticoagulation therapy was administered and the patient is recovering.The patient previously had a stroke requiring treatment.An endoscopic echocardiogram was done 2 days prior to the procedure.There were no reported performance issues with any abbott device.
