Event Description
It was reported that during an pulse field ablation procedure using a farawave catheter the patient experienced cardiac tamponade.During ablation of the final vein the patient became hypotensive.An echocardiography was performed, and tamponade was identified.A pericardiocentesis was performed and the patient appeared stable.However, the bleeding continued so the patient was transferred to the operating room where they underwent open heart surgery.After the surgery was completed, the patient was admitted to the hospital and was reported to be stable, and they are expected to fully recover.The ablation procedure was not completed due to the interventions required for the tamponade.The catheter is not expected to be returned for analysis.
 
Manufacturer Narrative
It was indicated that the device will not be returned for evaluation.If there is any further relevant information obtained, a supplemental medwatch will be filed.
