Event Description
It was reported that during an irreversible electroporation ablation procedure using a farawave catheter the patient experienced tamponade.During the procedure they lost access to the left atrium and attempted to gain access again. At that time they questioned if the guidewire had gone into the pericardial space, but there was no signs of effusion on the echocardiogram.A second transseptal puncture was completed and the right inferior pulmonary vein (ripv) was isolated. After this was completed, they observed a change in the patient's blood pressure and an echocardiogram was performed and tamponade was identified.Drainage was performed and the patient stabilized. They were kept in the hospital overnight for observation and no more complications were reported. The ablation procedure was considered completed as all veins were reported as treated. The catheter is expected to be returned for analysis.
