Event Description
Information was received from a patient who was implanted with an implantable neurostimulator (ins).The reason for call was caller stated that they are trying to charge the implant but cannot get to the screen where controller shows battery percentages.Caller stated they had the recharger over the implant for the last few days and have not been able to get it to connect.Pt wanted to get to the screen where they could see the "3 numbers" - agent reviewed passive recharge mode.Caller confirmed they are not walking around or making any movements.Agent asked - pt stated they tried using the belt but "it keeps slipping".During the call pt kept seeing poor recharge quality reposition the recharger and try again.Pt stated hard piece of the paddle was over the implant.After a few minutes, the controller showed that the controller battery was at 80% and the implant was at 60% and saw recharging terminated.Agent confirmed recharger was replaced.The issue was not resolved through troubleshooting.Agent sent email to local reps.The patient was redirected to their healthcare provider to check the implant and charging issue; pt stated their doctor was 2 hours away.See case rtg0544114 for replaced recharger.
