|
Medtronic received information that during use of a bio-medicus nextgen arterial cannula , the customer reported that while the device was being inserted into the internal jugular vein on a patient undergoing a minimally invasive procedure the customer reported that the tip completely caved in, which is abnormal for a cannula.The customer attempted to re-open it tried to straighten it out with an introducer but the tip still had a visible kink.The defect was observed before the cannula was inserted into the internal jugular.The device was replaced to complete the procedure.There was no adverse patient effect associated with this event.
