Event Description
It was reported that during a total knee arthroplasty surgical procedure, it was observed that while using the robotic-assisted solution satellite station device the cuts were about to start, it was clear that robot was not aligned correctly for the cuts.After reposition multiple times and after about 10 minutes the robot repositioned itself and the cuts were completed without issue.It was reported that the device was being used with a robotic assisted base station device, saw interface devices right and left.There were no delays in the procedure.There was patient involvement.There were no injuries, medical intervention or prolonged hospitalization.All available information has been disclosed.If additional information should become available, a supplemental medwatch will be submitted accordingly.

This report is being submitted pursuant to the provisions of 21 cfr, part 803.This report may be based on information which has not been investigated or verified prior to the required reporting date.This report does not reflect a conclusion by depuy synthes joint reconstruction, or its employees that the report constitutes an admission that the product, depuy synthes joint reconstruction, or its employees caused or contributed to the potential event described in this report.Device was used for treatment, not diagnosis.If information is obtained that was not available for the initial medwatch, a follow-up medwatch will be filed as appropriate.H11 additional narrative: the log files for this event.During evaluation it was found that the investigation confirms the reported event of the robot not being aligned correctly for the cuts.The root cause was determined to be significant robot movement during operation.This robot movement is likely caused by the system being cart mounted.The log files for this event were analyzed for possible array movement and suboptimal leg positioning and none was found.The reporter indicated that there was no negative impact to the patient outcome and no patient harm occurred.There were no defects found with the system or software.The assignable root cause was determined to be due to the user.
