A peritoneal dialysis (pd) patient experienced a breach in aseptic technique which resulted in bacterial peritonitis.The breach in aseptic technique was not further described.The peritonitis was manifested by cloudy pd fluid.It was not reported if the patient was hospitalized for the event.The same day as the event onset, the patient was treated vancomycin injection (1gm, intraperitoneal, every 5th day, discontinued), ceftazidime injection (1gm, intraperitoneal, once daily, discontinued) and heparin injection (1/2 ml, intraperitoneal, per bag, discontinued) for peritonitis.At the time of this report, the patient has recovered from the event.Pd therapy was ongoing.The patient was retrained on the proper aseptic technique.No additional information is available.
