Event Description
Information was received from a patient who was implanted with an implantable neurostimulator (ins) for urinary dysfunction/sacral nerve stim.The reason for call was patient said they just used their external yesterday and got a message: internal device battery low.Reviewed the meaning of the message and redirected to their doctor.Patient said they guess the battery depletion rate is normal and they do not use a real high number for their setting.The patient was redirected to their healthcare provider to further address the issue.Additional information was received from the patient.They reported that it was unknown if the issue was caused by normal battery depletion.They had a pelvic ultrasound and pelvic x-ray ordered by their healthcare provider (hcp) on (b)(6) 2024.The issue had not yet been resolved.Additional information was received from the patient.They again reported that it was unknown if the issue was caused by normal battery depletion.Patient then stated that the battery was dead after 1.5 years instead of 10 years; patient stated it was a defective battery.No steps had been taken to resolve the issue and the patient was waiting to hear what medtronic planned to do about it.The issue has not yet been resolved.
