Event Description
It was reported that there was an episode with bleeding one week after the implantable loop recorder (ilr) was implanted.Subsequently the glue fell off and the device was healing well with an eschar over the wound. The patient was brought into the clinic for evaluation as there was no electrogram on a remote transmission. The device could not be palpated.Chest and abdominal x-rays were performed and the device could not be located.A metal detector was placed all over the patient¿s body and the device was not located. The physician assumes the device dislodged either by trauma, by itself or secondary to twiddling. It was suspected that the device is in the patient¿s home and that is why a transmission was sent.It was noted that the implant site was closed with glue alone. No patient complications have been reported as a result of this event.
