Siemens is in process of investigating customer returned connect platform.The cause for the event is unknown at this moment.

Event Description
|
Customer reported that when they went to power on the instrument for the first time, it would not power on.They put 6 aa duracell batteries in the instrument with the connect ((b)(4)) and the instrument started to smoke up from the bottom and up the sides.There was no report of injury due to this event.

Investigation of the instrument determined that the root cause was a catastrophic failure of d16 on the main pcb.D16 is the overvoltage protector diode, which blows if the voltage applied to instrument is too high.Customer's instrument was replaced and customer is now operational.There is no evidence that a siemens product is not meeting specifications.
