Event Description
Information was received from a consumer via a manufacturer¿s representative regarding a patient with an implanted neurostimulator ( ins) for gastrointestinal /pelvic floor therapy. It was reported that the patient had been leaking for a while and wore pads. When their battery and lead were replaced it was discovered that the lead wire was "misplaced", meaning it was totally out of place, which is the reason it was not working and the patient wasn¿t getting the stimulation she needed. The healthcare professional (hcp) discovered the problem with the lead during a fluoroscopy and said the lead was pointing in a totally opposite direction than it should be for the nerve to be affected.Caller states the hcp said the lead was not broken but just out of place but the doctor opted to put in a new lead and ins.No further complications were reported or are anticipated.
