No patient information provided as no patient was involved in this concern.The interface box for the navigation system was returned to the manufacturer for evaluation.Testing found that the box was unable to establish communication with a known operational navigation system.The hardware investigation found that the reported event was related to a hardware issue.This issue was documented in a medtronic navigation hardware anomaly tracking database.
 
Event Description
A medtronic representative reported that, while outside of a procedure, the fault light on the display panel was illuminated.It was reported that the communication cables were swapped, the navigation system restarted and the emitters swapped without resolution.There was no patient present when this issue was identified.No additional information was provided.

Additional information: a medtronic representative reported that replacement of the interface box of the navigation system restored functionality.Correction: unique device identification (udi) and device manufacture date updated to proper value.

Additional information: a medtronic representative went to the site to test the equipment.The hardware, software, and instruments passed the system checkout.The system was found to be fully functional.
