Event Description
Information was received from family/ friend regarding a patient with an implantable neuro stimulator (ins) for spinal pain.It was reported that patient had discomfort in arms and legs, she went numb, her face and lips went numb could not walk had no control of arms or legs, sciatica went out of the roof.Patient thought she was having a heart attack and took an ambulance to the er.Consumer said they turned the stimulation off but it keeps coming on full blast.Synced with the patient programmer and the programmer showed stim on.Consumer initially saw lower limit screen, reviewed the meaning.It was reviewed stim was still on, and walked through turning stimulation off.Had patient check for multiple programs, none other available.(potential for adaptive stim to be causing stim recurrence, stim off should resolve).No fall, trauma and medical test related to this issue.Patient redirected to health care professional (hcp) walk through changing programs /settings over the phone.Patient considered change in therapy/ symptoms sudden.No further patient symptoms or complications were reported in this event.
