Information was received from a healthcare professional (hcp) regarding a patient who was implanted with a neurostimulator for gastric stimulation.The hcp was calling to request assistance with the patient remote and adjusting therapy.The hcp reported that they were trying to work with the patient but said the patient experienced nausea and shocking.The hcp stated that she wanted to talk to someone about bumping it up.On (b)(6) 2018, it was reported that the patient came into the office to have the device checked.It was found that the device was dead and, prior to this, the patient was getting shocking.After the device died, the patient got nausea.The cause of the shocking was unknown and it was unknown if the neurostimulator had died due to normal battery depletion.They were going to discuss device replacement.No further complications were reported or anticipated.
