Event Description
Information was received from a healthcare professional (hcp) regarding a patient who was implanted with a neurostimulator for urinary dysfunction/sacral nerve stimulation and gastrointestinal/pelvic floor. It was reported that the patient was doing well up until recently and when the patient goes into the hcp's office to have the device evaluated, it has sometimes been discovered that the implantable neurostimulator (ins) was off.The ins will be turned back on, ins shows it has a lot of battery life left (guessing about 120 months), and the patient will be reprogrammed but then later will report it's not working again. The patient reported it stays charged for a day and then doesn't work again.Later, the patient can't keep it turned on; the patient will check the ins and it will be completely turned off.The patient indicated wanting a new ins and the hcp was inquiring about how they should go about a replacement since patient shouldn't have to pay for it if it is malfunctioning. There were no further complications or anticipations reported with this event.
