Information was received from a consumer regarding a patient with an implantable neurostimulator (ins) for gastric stimulation. It was reported that the patient was having an issue still and ending up in the hospital every couple months with gastroparesis really bad, resulting in ketoacidosis. It was noted that the hospital could not get a hold of the implanting surgeon to see if the device was working or if it needed to be increased. The patient had been calling the doctor and leaving messages with the nurse starting in (b)(6) 2019; it was noted that the doctor was going to increase it awhile back, but the patient never heard from the doctor, and the patient thought it needed to be increased. The patient had gotten better with the device, was not nauseous all the time, but still had really bad flare ups that caused them to go into diabetic ketoacidosis every couple months. No further complications were reported/anticipated.
