During an endoscopic procedure to glue an esophageal varices, the physician used a cook marcon-haber varices injector.The first varix was injected and the needle adhered to the patients mucosa at the injection site.On pulling back on the device, the needle disconnected from the inner catheter and was left protruding from the mucosa.It was removed with a snare.There was no bleeding at the site due to the removal of the needle.The needle detached inside the patient.A snare was used to remove the detached device portion.According to the initial reporter, the patient did not experience any adverse effects due to this occurrence.
