Patient's exact age is unknown; however it was reported that the patient was over the age of 18.Date of event was approximated to be (b)(6) 2020 as no specific event date was reported.The complainant was unable to provide the suspect device upn and lot number; therefore, the lot expiration and device manufacture dates are unknown.However, the complainant reported that the device was not expired.(b)(4).The complainant indicated that the device remains implanted and will not be returned for evaluation; therefore, a failure analysis of the complaint device could not be completed.If any further relevant information is identified, a supplemental medwatch will be filed.

Event Description
|
It was reported to boston scientific corporation on february 18, 2020 that a wallflex esophageal stent has been implanted in the esophagus to treat a stricture during a stent placement procedure performed on an unknown date.According to the complainant, the patient presented for a gastroscopy procedure.It was noticed that the stent wires were causing food to obstruct the stent.The stent remains implanted and the procedure was completed.There were no patient complications reported as a result of this event.The patient's condition following the procedure was reported to be stable.Despite efforts, boston scientific has been unable to obtain additional information regarding the circumstances surrounding this event to date.Should additional relevant details become available, a supplemental report will be submitted.
