Manufacturer Narrative
The reported complaint was confirmed.Per the manufacturer's subsidiary, the end-user claimed to have problems in reading temperature. The manufacturer's subsidiary's technician could not reproduce any errors.During laboratory evaluation, the product surveillance technician (pst) observed that the arterial bpm temperature reading was intermittently erratic.Temperature was evaluated using a water loop hooked up to a water bath with heating and cooling capability and a multimeter to monitor actual temperature.Bpm temperatures were evaluated side by side, and initially while temperature was increasing, the arterial bpm temperature lagged behind the venous temperature and multimeter temperature. After an hour the arterial temperature matched the venous temperature. The product will be sent to service to be brought to manufacturer¿s specifications before being returned to the customer. If additional information becomes available on this complaint that would alter the facts and/or conclusion, a supplemental report will be filed accordingly.

Event Description
It was reported that during set-up of the device for a cardiopulmonary bypass (cpb) procedure, the blood parameter monitor (bpm) had problems in reading temperature. As mitigation, other measurements were used. The surgical procedure was completed successfully. There was no delay, no blood loss, nor adverse consequences to the patient.
