Event Description

Information was received from a healthcare provider via manufacture representative regarding a patient receiving unknown drug via an implanted infusion pump.It was reported the patient was in the clinic an hour ago getting their pump filled and during the refill, the hcp could not push drug in.The hcp thinks that there was a precipitate in the reservoir and believes that was what was not allowing drug to go into the reservoir freely. The caller was calling for troubleshooting guidance even though they sent the patient home. They plan to bring the patient in monday or tuesday to attempt the refill again. The caller was unsure whether they were able to get any drug in and was not sure if the patient was sent home with non-pump medication.Tech services reviewed pertinent information (i.E.Checking refill kit patency, holding negative pressure, consider attempting with saline).
