Event Description
|
Medtronic received information regarding a navigation system being used during a procedure.It was reported that the emitter was not picking up the patient tracker.With a new patient tracker, the emitter would pick it up briefly and then go red status again.The entire emitter detail pane was red, including the axiem box and emitter.Troubleshooting was attempted to resolve the issue.The axiem box stated that it was not communicating and the emitter was unable to read the port.The emitter was disconnected from the axiem, but this did not resolve the issue.Navigation was aborted.There is no further information.

Medtronic received additional information that the procedure was a functional endoscopic sinus surgery.Navigation was aborted because the emitter quit working.The em software box in the lower screen tray had vanished.The procedure was continued using a balloon and delayed by 30 minutes.There was no patient harm.
