Event Description
Medtronic received information regarding a navigation system used during a functional endoscopic sinus surgery (fess).The system was showing an axiem communication error in the software and would not pick up the instruments.The emitter details button showed both the axiem and emitter in red status.A reboot did not resolve the issue.Navigation was aborted.It was unknown if there was a delay.There was no impact to the patient.
 
Manufacturer Narrative
Analysis on the returned field generator had no failure found when analyzed.The tracking remained consistent through out the duration of the testing on all instruments/tools.If information is provided in the future, a supplemental report will be issued.
 
Event Description
Additional information was received.It was reported that the local representative (cs) checked the em interface and it showed one drive fault, indicating the emitter is damaged.The total delay to the procedure was less than 5 minutes.
