Event Description
Information was received from a consumer regarding a patient receiving "an opioid blocker" and fentanyl at an unknown concentration and dose via an implantable infusion pump.It was reported that the patient had "kicked the fentanyl" about two years ago, clarified to mean he got off the fentanyl in the pump, and since then the pump had been beeping. He got off the fentanyl because he "put up with pain daily" and slept "24 hours a day" and wanted his life back.He also noted he overdosed on fentanyl once when the doctor "put some in me" and did not elaborate further. The reason for calling was to discuss his desire to have the pump removed. The patient was provided a physician list close to his residence. No further complications were reported.
