Information was received from multiple sources (manufacturer representative, healthcare provider) regarding a patient who was receiving lioresal with concentration 2000mcg/ml at a dose rate of 430mcg/day via an implantable pump.It was reported that patient was brought into the emergency department with symptoms of acute baclofen withdrawal. The patient was itchy without rash, had increased spasticity, a high heart rate, and low blood pressure. The patient was brought into the operating room.  the pump was disconnected and the catheter was aspirated.  a dye study was done and the catheter was found to be patent. The physician made the decision to change the pump. The patient's symptoms were improved the following morning ((b)(6) 2020).  the issue was resolved as of (b)(6) 2020.  the patient was without injury regarding their status as of (b)(6) 2020.  the hospital was in possession of the pump which was to be returned to the manufacturer. The patient's medical history was noted as having been requested but would not be made available.  it was noted that the healthcare provider had no further information regarding the event.

Event Description
Additional information received reported that the patient had a sudden loss of therapy. No rotor study or dye study was performed. The patient recovered without sequela. It was unclear the type of baclofen the pump was used to deliver at the time of the event as the return paperwork indicated compounded baclofen and interrogation of the pump upon return had baclofen.
