Event Description
Information was received from a healthcare provider (hcp) via a manufacturer representative regarding a patient who was implanted with an implantable neurostimulator (ins) for gastric stimulation and gastrointestinal/ pelvic floor. It was reported that over the course of the last month, the patient had developed increasing symptoms of nausea and vomiting. The neurostimulator was found to have abnormal, non-reproducible impedance values during an in-office evaluation.During the first week in february, the implant was interrogated with a clinician programmer and out of range impedance was detected. The patient was scheduled for revision of the device. On (b)(6) 2021, the patient was brought to the operating room when the device was removed from the pocket and examined, the surgeon noted that three of the four set screws were loose. The lead was intact and appropriately in place. After tightening the set screws, the impedance normalized. The surgeon did not feel the screws were tightening properly and they decided to replace the device. The issue was resolved at the time of the report.
