Event Description
Additional information was received from the consumer reporting a deep brain stimulation (dbs) was implanted without their knowledge. They stated that they have obsessive-compulsive disorder (ocd), so they were thinking that may have been the reason for the dbs implant. They stated the physician was only supposed to do a 'diagnostic procedure'.For 7 years, they were told that they were having seizures.During that time, the ekgs and eeg were coming back negative. They have been having blackouts, their face turns "really red" and gets hot, and they have trouble doing everything in daily life. That added that last august, their back started bruising, so they got x-rays and ct scans. In one of the ct scans, they could see leads that led to a device in the "canal in the bottom of the abdomen".They stated that the leads are broken (noting that one of the leads looked "totally ate up") and is laying on top of their spine at the back of their neck. They added that the leads in their neck are "floating around" and look like "twisted wires - some more thin that others".They stated that there was a report that it looked like there was a catheter in their upper spine but then it was determined that it was not a catheter. They got a metal detector and put it near their abdomen and it "went off like crazy".They are trying to find a neurosurgeon who can remove the dbs. They clarified that the leads or wires appeared to be broken and twisted in their neck and spine and wants everything removed.
