Event Description
It was reported that the patient's doctor tweaked his deep brain stimulation system slightly and patient (pt) had a freezing episode at home later that day and fell backwards fracturing his elbow. It is unknown at this time if this was just his normal freezing of gait of if it had anything to do with the slight adjustment made on monday.Patient has had a history of freezing of gait related to his parkinson¿s disease for a couple of years now which does not seem to respond to medication or deep brain stimulation.Pt contacted manufacturer representative and requested help to switch back to their b setting using their patient programmer and rep assisted.Rep reinforced to the patient to try and be very careful when walking around the house and to make sure he continues to use his walker because he normally forgets to use it.He was not using his walker at the time of the fall.Patient will follow up with provider at a later date to discuss medication changes or options to try and help his walking.

Event Description
Additional information was received from a manufacturer representative (rep) reporting the fall was related to the patient's parkinson's freezing of gait that does not seem to improve with stimulation or medications. The physician increased their medications slightly to see if this would help their symptoms. The patient was also evaluated at neurology to see if they would be candidate for an experimental robotic device that can help with medication and dbs refractory freezing but the patient failed the evaluation due to the progression of their parkinson's.
